RESUMO

The aim of this study was to achieve rapid gelation of chitosan (CS) and silica (SA) without crosslinking agent, the relationship between process parameters and the composite aerogels properties were also explored. By varying the composition ratio of the system (from SA:CS = 1:1 to 5:1), the system gelation time was reduced by >12 times, and the drying shrinkage of the composite aerogel reached a minimum of 7.6 %. During the two recombination processes, chitosan rapidly formed aqueous colloid secondary structure under the influence of ethanol. This phenomenon reduced the stability of the system and allowed silica to form a two-phase composite hydrogel. Because the network gap between the fibers was used as a limiting medium for gel growth. In addition, the chitosan/silica composite aerogels exhibited a mesoporous structure with low density (0.1144 g/cm3), and the thermal conductivity was 0.028 W/(m·K) at 30 °C. The trimethylchlorosilane made the composite aerogel have good hydrophobicity with water contact angle as 134.7°, and the adsorption capacity of carbon tetrachloride could reach >10 times of its own weight. This study provides an eco-friendly and high-efficiency method for preparing aerogels, which has potential applications in the fields of thermal insulation, oil-water separation, etc.

RESUMO

Significance: As an essential procedure, wound care comes with acute pain, which is short but high in intensity, causing patients to fear and affecting subsequent treatment. Nitrous oxide (N2O) is used to relieve pain related to wound care; however, evidence regarding its application is conflicting. Thus, this systematic review and meta-analysis was performed to evaluate the efficacy of N2O in wound care-related pain. Recent Advances: Randomized controlled trials that investigated the effect of N2O in adults undergoing wound care were systematically searched from PubMed, Embase, the Cochrane Library, Web of Science, Scopus, and ClinicalTrials.gov up to February 2023. The primary outcome was the pain score. Secondary outcomes included patients' satisfaction and side effects. Critical Issues: Through screening the 265 identified articles, seven and six studies were finally included in the systematic review and meta-analysis, respectively. Pooled analysis suggested that there was no significant difference in reducing wound care-related pain between the N2O group and the control group (mean difference [MD], -0.02, 95% confidence interval [CI], -1.46, 1.42; p = 0.98, I2 = 96%). Subgroup analyses indicated that there was a significant difference in favor of N2O for burns, not for ulcers, and N2O was superior to oxygen and similar to topical or intravenous anesthesia. There was no significant difference in patients' satisfaction or the incidence of side effects between groups. Future Directions: This review suggests that N2O might be effective for pain management in patients undergoing wound care. Caution must be taken when interpreting these results due to the high risk of biased methods in the included studies.

RESUMO

In this study, we utilized a simple calcination method to prepare a Ni/TiO2/C composite, which was synchronously grown from magnetic, semiconductor, and conductive materials. XRD, SEM, Raman, and XPS characterization methods were used to analyze the crystal structure, graphitization degree, morphology size, and valence state of Ni/TiO2/C, and its electromagnetic wave absorption performance was tested. It was revealed that rod-like Ni/TiO2/C had good electromagnetic wave absorption performance at a thickness of 1-5.5 mm; in particular, its reflectance reached -40 dB at 3.5 mm and its absorption bandwidth (reflectivity < -10 dB) reached 4.4 GHz (6.0-10.4 GHz) at a thickness of 4.0 mm. It was thus revealed that its electromagnetic wave absorption rate and absorption bandwidth can be regulated by its thickness. Compared with Ni/TiO2, it was proven that the conductive materials (carbon), magnetic materials (Ni), and semiconductor materials (TiO2) in the rod-like Ni/TiO2/C composite can synergistically absorb electromagnetic wave energy through dielectric and magnetic losses.

RESUMO

Background: Radiography has a low level of radiation exposure while providing valuable information. Due to its cost effectiveness and widespread availability, the preoperative radiographic imaging examination is a valuable approach for assessing patients with spinal disease. This study aimed to examine the influence of preoperative X-ray evaluation on the surgical treatment of patients with single- or multi-level lumbar degenerative disease (LDD). Methods: A retrospective cohort analysis was conducted of 172 patients diagnosed with LDD who underwent transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion (TLIF) or posterior lumbar interbody fusion (PLIF) surgery between December 2021 and February 2023 at the Shanghai Changzheng Hospital. Various parameters were measured on preoperative radiographs, including the iliac crest height, median iliac angle (MIA), lumbar lordosis (LL), intervertebral facet joint degeneration, lumbosacral angle (LSA), intervertebral foramen height (IFH), and surgical segment. The surgical treatment was evaluated based on the operative time, intraoperative blood loss, and postoperative complications. A correlation analysis and independent sample t-tests were used to assess the relationship between preoperative radiographic variables and surgical treatments. Further, a multivariate linear regression analysis was employed to identify the risk factors affecting the clinical outcomes. Results: The correlation analysis and t-test results showed that the MIA, height of the iliac crest, intervertebral facet joint degeneration, and surgical segment were significantly correlated with the surgical treatments (P<0.05). Specifically, the height of the iliac crest, intervertebral facet joint degeneration, and surgical segment were positively correlated with the surgical treatments. Conversely, the MIA was negatively correlated with the surgical treatments. However, no significant differences were observed between the IFH, LSA, and LL in relation to posterior lumbar surgery (P>0.05). The multiple linear regression analysis showed that the height of the iliac crest, MIA, intervertebral facet joint degeneration, and surgical segment were independent factors affecting the surgical treatments of patients with single- or multi-level LDD. These findings highlight the importance of considering these factors when planning and performing lumbar surgery. Conclusions: The measurements taken from radiographs, including the height of the iliac crest, MIA, intervertebral facet joint degeneration, and surgical segment, demonstrate potential influences on the treatment of single- and multi-level lumbar spine surgery. These variables can be captured in plain film imaging and can provide valuable insights into the surgical procedure and offer guidance for the operation. By analyzing these radiographic measurements, surgeons can gain a better understanding of a patient's condition and tailor the surgical approach accordingly, thus optimizing the outcomes of the surgery.

RESUMO

Mercury is a common contaminant found in natural waters, which is highly toxic to human health. Thus, the facile and reliable monitoring of mercury in waters is of great significance. In this study, we fabricated a novel loofah-like hierarchical porous carbon with sulfhydryl functionality (S-LHC), and applied it as an ultrasensitive sensor for the electrochemical detection of mercury in water. The S-LHC was prepared through the direct pyrolysis of a triazole-rich metal-organic framework (MOF), followed by chemical modification using thioglycolic acid. The highly conductive N-doped carbon framework of S-LHC facilitated the electron transfer in mercury electrochemical sensing. Meanwhile, the open hierarchical pore structure and abundant sulfhydryl groups allowed the fast diffusion and effective enrichment of mercury ions. Consequently, the S-LHC sensor exhibited an exceptionally high sensitivity for mercury ions, with the mercury detection limit (0.36 nM) orders of magnitude lower than the regulated values in drinking water (typically 10∼30 nM). The constructed sensor also afforded good anti-interference ability and excellent stability for long-term detection of mercury in a variety of complex real water samples. The present study provides not only a facile method for mercury detection, but also a new idea for the construction of highly sensitive electrochemical sensors.

RESUMO

Background: Radiography has low radiation exposure and the ability to acquire information. Due to its cost-effectiveness and availability, preoperative radiographic imaging examination is considered to be a valuable method to evaluate the condition of patients with spinal disease. The aim of this cohort study is to analyze the impact of evaluating preoperative X-rays on the surgical management of lumbar degenerative diseases (LDD). Methods: We reviewed 49 patients with LDD underwent single-level posterior instrumented lumbar fusion (PILF) between November 2017 and October 2022 in this cohort study. The median iliac angle (MIA), iliac crest height, intervertebral facet joint degeneration, lumbosacral angle (LSA), L5/S1 intervertebral space angle (ISA), intervertebral foramen height (IFH) and intervertebral space height (ISH) were measured on preoperative radiographs. In addition, operative time, intraoperative blood loss and postoperative complications were used to evaluate the surgical management. Correlation analysis was used to determine the correlation between preoperative radiographic presentation and surgical managements. Multivariate linear regression analysis was used for determination of risk factors for surgical management. Results: Correlation analysis showed that the median iliac angle, height of iliac crest, lumbosacral angle and intervertebral facet joint degeneration were significantly correlated with surgical managements (P<0.05). Height of iliac crest, intervertebral facet joint degeneration and lumbosacral angle were positively correlated with surgical management. Meanwhile, MIA was negatively correlated with surgical management. No significant difference was found between the IFH, ISA, ISH and surgical managements in posterior lumbar surgery (P>0.05). After multiple linear regression analysis, height of iliac crest, median iliac angle and intervertebral facet joint degeneration were independent influence factors for the single-level lumbar surgical managements. Conclusions: Some variables measured in radiograph shows that height of iliac crest, median iliac angle and intervertebral facet joint degeneration have a potential influence on surgical managements. The lumbosacral angle was positively associated with surgical management, but it was not statistically significant in multiple linear regression analysis (P>0.05). The above measurements in plain film can reflect the surgical procedure and have some guiding implications for the operation.

RESUMO

Enterovirus 71 (EV71) infection is one of the main causes of severe hand, foot and mouth disease (HFMD), which is usually accompanied by a marked inflammatory response. The excessive inflammatory response has been implicated to serve an important role in EV71-caused HFMD. Pyroptosis is a type of inflammatory programmed cell death. Therefore, a novel treatment strategy against EV71 infection could aim to alleviate the inflammatory response through inhibition of EV71-induced pyroptosis. The present study revealed that metformin had this therapeutic potential. A cell model of EV71 infection was established, cell viability was measured by CCK8 assay, cell damage was measured by LDH release kit, and the dead and dying cells were excluded by propidium iodide staining. The intracellular levels of DEP domain-containing mTOR interacting protein (DEPTOR) and pyroptosis-associated molecules were measured by western blot analysis, the NLRP3 expression was assessed by immunofluorescence labeling, and virus titers in cell culture supernatants were determined by a cell culture infectious dose 50 assay. The results demonstrated that EV71 infection could induce pyroptosis in a time- and dose-dependent manner, and metformin could inhibit EV71-induced pyroptosis. The mechanism of metformin inhibiting EV71-induced pyroptosis was explored next. Subsequent experiments indicated that metformin could increase the levels of DEPTOR, which were decreased by EV71. Finally, overexpression of DEPTOR in cells could reduce EV71-induced pyroptosis. Overall, the present study demonstrated that metformin could exert a novel pharmacodynamic anti-pyroptosis effect in the treatment of EV71 infection by upregulating DEPTOR expression.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to explore the causal effects of physical disability and number of comorbid chronic diseases on depressive symptoms in an elderly Chinese population. DESIGN, SETTING AND ANALYSIS: Cross-sectional, baseline data were obtained from the China Longitudinal Ageing Social Survey, a stratified, multistage, probabilistic sampling survey conducted in 2014 that covers 28 of 31 provincial areas in China. The causal effects of physical disability and number of comorbid chronic diseases on depressive symptoms were analysed using the conditional average treatment effect method of machine learning. The causal effects model's adjustment was made for age, gender, residence, marital status, educational level, ethnicity, wealth quantile and other factors. OUTCOME: Assessment of the causal effects of physical disability and number of comorbid chronic diseases on depressive symptoms. PARTICIPANTS: 7496 subjects who were 60 years of age or older and who answered the questions on depressive symptoms and other independent variables of interest in a survey conducted in 2014 were included in this study. RESULTS: Physical disability and number of comorbid chronic diseases had causal effects on depressive symptoms. Among the subjects who had one or more functional limitations, the probability of depressive symptoms increased by 22% (95% CI 19% to 24%). For the subjects who had one chronic disease and those who had two or more chronic diseases, the possibility of depressive symptoms increased by 13% (95% CI 10% to 15%) and 20% (95% CI 18% to 22%), respectively. CONCLUSION: This study provides evidence that the presence of one or more functional limitations affects the occurrence of depressive symptoms among elderly people. The findings of our study are of value in developing programmes that are designed to identify elderly individuals who have physical disabilities or comorbid chronic diseases to provide early intervention.

RESUMO

In this paper, the shear horizontal (SH) wave scattering by a circular pipeline in an inhomogeneous concrete with density variation is studied. A model of inhomogeneous concrete with density variation in the form of a polynomial-exponential coupling function is established. By using the complex function method and conformal transformation, the incident and scattering wave field of SH wave in concrete are obtained, and the analytic expression of dynamic stress concentration factor (DSCF) around the circular pipeline is given. The results show that the inhomogeneous density parameters, the wave number of the incident wave and the angle of the incident wave in concrete are important factors affecting the distribution of dynamic stress around the circular pipe in concrete with inhomogeneous density. The research results can provide a theoretical reference and a basis for analyzing the influence of circular pipeline on elastic wave propagation in an inhomogeneous concrete with density variation.

RESUMO

Early classification tasks aim to classify time series before observing full data. It is critical in time-sensitive applications such as early sepsis diagnosis in the intensive care unit (ICU). Early diagnosis can provide more opportunities for doctors to rescue lives. However, there are two conflicting goals in the early classification task-accuracy and earliness. Most existing methods try to find a balance between them by weighing one goal against the other. But we argue that a powerful early classifier should always make highly accurate predictions at any moment. The main obstacle is that the key features suitable for classification are not obvious in the early stage, resulting in the excessive overlap of time series distributions in different time stages. The indistinguishable distributions make it difficult for classifiers to recognize. To solve this problem, this article proposes a novel ranking-based cross-entropy () loss to jointly learn the feature of classes and the order of earliness from time series data. In this way, can help classifier to generate probability distributions of time series in different stages with more distinguishable boundary. Thus, the classification accuracy at each time step is finally improved. Besides, for the applicability of the method, we also accelerate the training process by focusing the learning process on high-ranking samples. Experiments on three real-world datasets show that our method can perform classification more accurately than all baselines at all moments.

RESUMO

Magnetocardiography (MCG), which uses high-sensitivity magnetometers to record magnetic field signals generated by electrical activity in the heart, is a noninvasive method for evaluating heart diseases such as arrhythmia and ischemia. The MCG measurements usually require the participant keeping still in a magnetically shielded room due to the immovable sensor and noisy external environments. These requirements limit MCG applications, such as exercise MCG tests and long-term MCG observations, which are useful for early detections of heart diseases. Here, we introduce a movable MCG system that can clearly record MCG signals of freely behaving participants in an unshielded environment. On the basis of optically pumped magnetometers with a sensitivity of 140 fT/Hz1/2, we successfully demonstrated the resting MCG and the exercise MCG tests. Our method is promising to realize a practical movable multichannel unshielded MCG system that nearly sets no limits to participants and brings another kind of insight into the medical diagnosis of heart disease.

RESUMO

Continuous diagnosis and prognosis are essential for critical patients. They can provide more opportunities for timely treatment and rational allocation. Although deep-learning techniques have demonstrated superiority in many medical tasks, they frequently forget, overfit, and produce results too late when performing continuous diagnosis and prognosis. In this work, we summarize the four requirements; propose a concept, continuous classification of time series (CCTS); and design a training method for deep learning, restricted update strategy (RU). The RU outperforms all baselines and achieves average accuracies of 90%, 97%, and 85% on continuous sepsis prognosis, COVID-19 mortality prediction, and eight disease classifications, respectively. The RU can also endow deep learning with interpretability, exploring disease mechanisms through staging and biomarker discovery. We find four sepsis stages, three COVID-19 stages, and their respective biomarkers. Further, our approach is data and model agnostic. It can be applied to other diseases and even in other fields.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Inhibitors of programmed cell death protein 1 (PD-1) and programmed cell death ligand 1 (PD-L1) have been used in the treatment of relapsed and refractory Hodgkin's lymphoma (R/R HL) recently. To further understand the safety and efficacy of PD-1/PD-L1 inhibitors in R/R HL, we conducted this meta-analysis. METHODS: Databases and the Clinical Registration Platforms have been systematically searched for related studies by March 2022. For safety analysis, the incidence and exhibition of any grade and grade 3 or higher adverse effects (AEs) were evaluated. Besides, severe AEs (SAEs), treatment-related deaths, and AEs leading to treatment discontinuation were summarized. The overall response rate (ORR), complete response (CR) rate, partial response (PR) rate, progression-free survival (PFS), overall survival (OS), and duration of response (DOR) were calculated for efficacy analysis. All processes were implemented mainly through the package Meta and MetaSurv of software R 4.1.2. RESULTS: Overall 20 studies and 1440 patients were enrolled. The pooled incidence of any grade and grade 3 or higher AEs were 92% and 26%, respectively. The pooled ORR, CR rate and PR rate were 79%, 44% and 34%, respectively. The most common AEs were neuropathy (29%), nausea (27%), pyrexia (26%), and leukopenia (25%), and the most common grade 3 or higher AEs included leukopenia (10%), infusion reaction (8%), weight gain (3%), and neutropenia (2.7%). In survival analysis, pembrolizumab monotherapy appeared to perform better compared to nivolumab monotherapy. CONCLUSIONS: PD-1/PD-L1 inhibitors show promising efficacy and tolerable AEs in the treatment of R/R HL.

RESUMO

Aortic dissection (AD) develops pathological changes in the separation of the true and false aortic lumen, with high lethality. m6A methylation and oxidative stress have also been shown to be involved in the onset of AD. Through bioinformatics methods, three differentially expressed m6A regulators (YTHDC1, YTHDC2, and RBM15) were excavated from the GSE52093 dataset in the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database, and functional enrichment analysis of the differentially expressed genes (DEGs) regulated by m6A regulators was performed. Then, the genes with oxidative stress-related functions among these genes were found. The protein interaction network of the oxidative stress-related genes and the competing endogenous RNA- (ceRNA-) miRNA-mRNA network were constructed. Among them, DHCR24, P4HB, and PDGFRA, which have m6A differences in AD samples, were selected as key genes. We also performed immune infiltration analysis, as well as cell-gene correlation analysis, on samples from the dataset. The results showed that YTHDC1 was positively correlated with macrophage M1 and negatively correlated with macrophage M2. Finally, we extracted AD and healthy aorta RNA and protein from human tissues that were taken from AD patients and patients who received heart transplants, performed quantitative real-time PCR (qRT-PCR) on YTHDC2 and RBM15, and performed qRT-PCR and western blot (WB) detection on YTHDC1 to verify their differences in AD. The mRNA and protein levels of YTHDC1 were consistent with the results of bioinformatics analysis and were downregulated in AD. Immunofluorescence (IF) was used to colocalize YTHDC1 and endothelial cell marker CD31. After knocking down YTHDC1 in human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs), reactive oxygen species (ROS) levels had a tendency to increase and the expression of peroxide dismutase SOD2 was decreased. This study provides assistance in discovering the role of m6A regulator YTHDC1 in AD. In particular, m6A modification participates in oxidative stress and jointly affects AD.

RESUMO

The classification of time series is essential in many real-world applications like healthcare. The class of a time series is usually labeled at the final time, but more and more time-sensitive applications require classifying time series continuously. For example, the outcome of a critical patient is only determined at the end, but he should be diagnosed at all times for timely treatment. For this demand, we propose a new concept, Continuous Classification of Time Series (CCTS). Different from the existing single-shot classification, the key of CCTS is to model multiple distributions simultaneously due to the dynamic evolution of time series. But the deep learning model will encounter intertwined problems of catastrophic forgetting and over-fitting when learning multi-distribution. In this work, we found that the well-designed distribution division and replay strategies in the model training process can help to solve the problems. We propose a novel Adaptive model training strategy for CCTS (ACCTS). Its adaptability represents two aspects: (1) Adaptive multi-distribution extraction policy. Instead of the fixed rules and the prior knowledge, ACCTS extracts data distributions adaptive to the time series evolution and the model change; (2) Adaptive importance-based replay policy. Instead of reviewing all old distributions, ACCTS only replays important samples adaptive to their contribution to the model. Experiments on four real-world datasets show that our method outperforms all baselines.

RESUMO

Background: Ovarian cancer (OC) is one of the most frequently seen and fatal gynecological malignancies, and oxidative stress (OS) plays a critical role in the development and chemoresistance of OC. Materials and Methods: OS-related genes (OSRGs) were obtained from the Molecular Signatures Database. Besides, gene expression profiles and clinical information from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) were selected to identify the prognostic OSRGs. Moreover, univariate Cox regression, LASSO, and multivariate Cox regression analyses were conducted sequentially to establish a prognostic signature, which was later validated in three independent Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) datasets. Next, gene set enrichment analysis (GSEA) and tumor mutation burden (TMB) analysis were performed. Afterwards, immune checkpoint genes (ICGs) and the tumor immune dysfunction and exclusion (TIDE) algorithm, together with IMvigor210 and GSE78220 cohorts, were applied to comprehensively explore the role of OSRG signature in immunotherapy. Further, the CellMiner and Genomics of Drug Sensitivity in Cancer (GDSC) databases were also applied in investigating the significance of OSRG signature in chemotherapy. Results: Altogether, 34 prognostic OSRGs were identified, among which 14 were chosen to establish the most valuable prognostic signature. The Kaplan-Meier (KM) analysis suggested that patients with lower OS-related risk score had better prognosis. The area under the curve (AUC) values were 0.71, 0.76, and 0.85 in 3, 5, and 7 years separately, and the stability of this prognostic signature was confirmed in three GEO datasets. As revealed by GSEA and TMB analysis results, OC patients in low-risk group might have better immunotherapeutic response, which was consistent with ICG expression and TIDE analyses. Moreover, both IMvigor210 and GSE78220 cohorts demonstrated that patients with lower OS-related risk score were more likely to benefit from anti-PD-1/L1 immunotherapy. In addition, the association between prognostic signature and drug sensitivity was explored. Conclusion: According to our results in this work, OSRG signature can act as a powerful prognostic predictor for OC, which contributes to generating more individualized therapeutic strategies for OC patients.

RESUMO

Brown rot caused by the pathogen of the genus Monilinia is the most destructive disease in peaches worldwide. It has seriously reduced the economic value of the peach (Prunus persica (L.) Batsch) in Nyingchi and Qamdo, Tibet, China. Monilinia fructicola, Monilia mumecola, and M. yunnanensis have been reported as the causal agents of brown rot disease on stone fruits in China. In this study, we report on the identification of M. yunnanensis in peach orchards in Nyingchi and Qamdo, Tibet. From twenty-three isolates with the same characteristics, we identified the representative single-spore isolates T8-1, T8-8, and T8-20 as M. yunnanensis and confirmed that the Tibet brown rot disease was caused by M. yunnanensis based on the morphological characteristics and molecular analyses. The phylogenetic analysis of the glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase (G3PDH) and ß-tubulin (TUB2) nucleotide sequences and the multiplex PCR identification revealed that the representative isolates T8-1, T8-8, and T8-20 were more closely related to M. yunnanensis than other Monilinia species. Furthermore, the biocontrol strain of Trichoderma T6 presented significant antagonistic activity on the M. yunnanensis T8-1 isolate (T8-1) among the five Trichoderma strains. The highest inhibitory rates for Trichoderma T6 and its fermentation product against T8-1 mycelial growth were 72.13% and 68.25%, respectively. The obvious inhibition zone displayed on the colony interaction area between the colony of T8-1 isolate and Trichoderma T6 and the morphological characterization of the T8-1 hyphae were enlarged and malformed after inoculation with the Trichoderma T6 fermentation product at 20-fold dilution. Our results indicate that the strain of Trichoderma T6 could be considered as a beneficial biocontrol agent in managing brown rot of peach fruit disease.

RESUMO

Regardless of its good electron-transfer ability and chemical stability, pure Zn2SnO4 (ZSO) still has intrinsic deficiencies of a narrow spectral response region, poor absorption ability, and high photo-activated carrier recombination rate. Aiming to overcome the deficiencies above-mentioned, we designed a facile hydrothermal route for etching ZSO nanoparticles in a dilute acetic acid solution, through which efficient oxygen vacancy defect engineering was accomplished and SnO2-x nanocrystals were obtained with an ultrafine particle size. In comparison with the untreated ZSO nanoparticles, the specific surface area of SnO2-x nanocrystals was substantially enlarged, subsequently leading to the notable augmentation of active sites for the photo-degradation reaction. Aside from the above, it is worth noting that SnO2-x nanocrystals were endowed with a broad spectral response, enhancing light absorption capacity and the photo-activated carrier transfer rate with the aid of oxygen vacancy defect engineering. Accordingly, SnO2-x nanocrystals exhibited significantly enhanced photoactivity toward the degradation of the organic dye rhodamine B (RhB), which could be imputed to the synergistic effect of increasing active sites, intensified visible-light harvesting, and the separation rate of the photo-activated charge carrier caused by the oxygen vacancy defect engineering. In addition, these findings will inspire us to open up a novel pathway to design and prepare oxide compound photocatalysts modified by oxygen vacancy defects in pursuing excellent visible-light photoactivity.

RESUMO

In recent years, epigenetic modifications have been increasingly regarded as an important hallmark of cancer. Histone acetylation, as an important part of epigenetic modification, plays a key role in the progress, treatment, and prognosis of many cancers. In this study, based on the TCGA database, we performed LASSO regression and the Cox algorithm to establish a prognostic signature of ovarian cancer associated with histone acetylation modulator genes and verified it externally in the GEO database. Subsequently, we performed an immunological bioinformatics analysis of the model from multiple perspectives using the CIBERSORT algorithm, ESTIMATE algorithm, and TIDE algorithm to verify the accuracy of the model. Based on the prognostic model, we divided ovarian cancer patients into high-risk and low-risk groups, and assessed survival and the efficacy of accepting immunosuppressive therapy. In addition, based on the analysis of characteristics of the model, we also screened targeted drugs for high-risk patients and predicted potential drugs that inhibit platinum resistance through the connectivity map method. We ultimately constructed a histone acetylation modulator-related signature containing 10 histone acetylation modulators, among which HDAC1, HDAC10, and KAT7 can act as independent prognostic factors for ovarian cancer and are related to poor prognosis. In the analysis of the tumor microenvironment, the proportion of the B-infiltrating cells and the macrophages was significantly different between the high- and low-risk groups. Also, the samples with high-risk scores had higher tumor purity and lower immune scores. In terms of treatment, patients in the high-risk group who received immunotherapy had a higher likelihood of immune escape or rejection and were less likely to respond to platinum/paclitaxel therapy. Finally, we screened 20 potential drugs that could target the model for reference.
